The Friends of the Public Market

In late 2003, the City of Rochester invited interested citizens to assist in planning the Rochester Public Market's 100th anniversary in 2005. As a result, this initial core group of advocates formed the Friends of the Public Market to provide an avenue to not only interpret the markets' rich history and uniqueness, but to bring historical and educational value to the wider community. Friends of Public Market is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

      We're All Friends Here

Volunteers are an integral and much-appreciated part of the activities of the Rochester Public Market.

The Friends of the Public Market offer many opportunities for volunteers such as working at our Welcome Center on Saturdays or hosting tours for school children and out-of-town guests. You can also assist us in our annual Artist Row event every September where we provide a low-cost venue for artists who might otherwise be priced out of traditional fairs or shows.

For more information about volunteering opportunities, or for questions about joining, email us at or stop over any Saturday morning to our Welcome Center booth or at the Market Office.

We look forward to meeting you!
